It's terrible to watch the terror and trauma in the city where one lives, though no one I know is directly affected. My heart goes out to the innocent lives lost in this battle for God knows what. And my salute to the brave police and defense officers.

this is perhaps the worst terrorist attack on Indian soil...True, there have been incidents where more lives were lost but this one has managed to hit India very badly...

Its now been 24 hours and the drama is still unfolding...

To think of the minds who would shoot down innocents including women and children even in hospitals !

Its the worst, mumbaikars have ever faced. I was lucky enough to be alive. But dont know how long it will take things to be normal. Infact mumbai is coming normal with people started going to work. But every time we got through those place, we will remember those hours of panic.

i was in mumbai and just got to kerala today evening..was on the way back from a long trip..it was horrendous to witness the gruesome incidents on tv. my heart goes out to the unsung heroes - the cops, firemen, and commandos and the brave hotel staff and other civilians - who put others lives before theirs. i almost cried when i heard about karkare, salaskar and kamte.

this makes us all vulnerable..sets a new low for the terror squad. its time to unite and brace ourselves against these evil forces.

personally i dont think this is just about the usual jehadis..i feel there is a deeper political angle to this as well.

and its so shameful to see how our bloody politicians are busy playing their cards in the backdrop.

its also ironic to see how a mumbai divided by politicians recently has been united by death and tragedy.

Even a 'dog' wouldn't visit this site if not for the post on Mumbai. Your blog title is becoming more of a self fulfilling prophecy every day.

If I didn't know better, I would have thought you were serious. Nice job quoting Achu, in light of his insulting Major Unnikrishnan's family.

Guys , the only reason why terrorism is so frequent in India is because of our politcians. I dont live in India anymore more and i have openly said that i wont invest in Kerala till our communist folks start having some sense of logic in what they talk. When i was studying on Kerala we had highlighted how " Jihadi" movement is getting practiced in some parts of Kerala , but nobody paid a heed. I was surprised at how communists wanted to give special ayurvedic treatment to Madani of the coimbatore blasts. We need to start spreading the right message and vote for candidates and not parties. I dont know if this is truue but read on...
Did you know that there is a system in our constitution, as per the 1969 act, in section "49-O" that a person can go to the polling booth,
confirm his identity, get his finger marked and convey the presiding election officer that he/she doesn't want to vote anyone!

Yes! such a feature is available, but obviously these seemingly notorious leaders have never disclosed it. This is called "49-O."

Why should you go and say "I VOTE NOBODY"...?
Because, in a ward, if a candidate wins, say by 123 votes, and that particular ward has received "49-O" votes more than 123, then that
polling will be cancelled and will have to be re-polled. Not only that, but the candidature of the contestants will be removed and they cannot
contest the re-polling, since people had already expressed their decision on them. This would bring fear into parties and hence they will
have to look for genuine candidates to represent their parties for election. This would change the way of our whole political system. It
is seemingly surprising why the election commission has not revealed such a feature to the public...

This seems to be a wonderful weapon against corrupt parties in India. Expressing your desire not to vote for anybody, is even more powerful than
voting... so don't miss your chance. Either vote, or vote not to vote (vote 49-O) and pass this info on...

Cheers

Absolutely agree with Jay that we must exercise our franchise. When you cast your vote you reject the kind of people you don't want at the helm and select the kind of people who will deliver on their promises to you.

Reg 49-O I am informed that there is no provision for polling to be canceled based on the number of 49-O votes. The information in the chain mail going around was not correct I am told.
